1 – Hold Up – Beyonce – A pop sleight of hand in keeping with the concept but jumping out the window – A

2 – Sandcastles – Beyonce – Simple and very moving pop moment, just piano and backing vocals, with all the worries of romance and heartache – A

3 – Don’t Hurt Yourself – Beyonce And Jack White – Couldn’t Jack have given her something a little stronger? The rhythm is great but the melody is weak – B+

4 – Daddy Lessons – Blues work out with horns via New Orleans – A-

5 – Freedom – Beyonce and Kendrick Lamar – Kendrick doesn’t phone it in, the way he did with Taylor Swift – A

6 –  Love Drought – Beyonce – Closest thing to the last album… a good thing – A

7 –  Forward – Beyonce and James Blake – Undoubted art song – A

8 – Sorry – Beyonce – “I ain’t sorry” – A

9 – All Night – Beyonce – The natural conclusion to the album, a chance for reconciliation – A

10 – Formation – Beyonce – Though this is how it actually ends – A
