I try to go to as many shows as possible, it is sometimes difficult, especially during weeknights, but music is too important and life is too short to miss some good stuff. In fact, I am always missing out in Los Angeles, there are simply too many shows at the same time, and too many venues to check out. Here are a few shows happening in the following months, I have only listed the ones I am planning to go to, since there are many more gigs happening. I should also ad there will be all these free Monday residencies to choose from!

WE ROCK WITH STANDING ROCK with a super long list of performers: TV On The Radio, Fiona Apple, Riley Keough (Elvis Presley’s granddaughter), Patricia Arquette, Devendra Banhart, Robby Romero, Sky Ferreira, Bobbi Jean, Moses Sumney, Benjamin Booker, Kimya Dawson, NAHKO, Jolie Holland, Valerie June, Holly Miranda, Bouquet, The Chapin Sisters, Becky Stark, Laura Burhenn & special guests at the Fonda, Sunday December 18th: with a line-up like this one, what could go wrong? I just wish I had a photo pass…

The Sloths at Resident, Tuesday December 20th: Old school rock and roll back from the grave, their shows always sweat rock & roll history, bringing to mind legends like Bo Diddley, Iggy Pop, and of course the Stones.

X at the Roxy, Friday December 30th: The famous punk band play 4 nights in a row at the Roxy, and one night is already sold out. They don’t need advertisement, they are the incarnation of LA punk rock music, and I am just sad I couldn’t get a ticket for the 29th with other legend the Blasters.

Thee Oh Sees at the Teragram Ballroom Saturday January 7th: They play there on the 6th too, and I would advice you to buy a ticket right now if you want to go, these hot deals (only $20) are not gonna last very long. This is John Dwyer and his manic fury, Thee Oh Sees shows are always a pure abandon in punk rock heaven.

Lord Huron at the Teragram Ballroom, Wednesday January 11th : They play there 4 nights in a row (from the 11th to the 14th), all the nights are already sold out, and I almost didn’t get a ticket! When I saw them years and years ago, I knew they would be successful, Ben Schneider’s music transcends genres and periods, it’s nostalgic, exotic and playful with a rare timeless quality of something running after the glory of nature.

Eleni Mandell Tribute Record Release show to benefit Plastic Pollution Coalition with Jackson Browne, Priscilla Ahn, Alex Lilly, Gus Seyffert, Wendy Wang, Steve Gregoropoulos, Inara George, Eleni Mandell,…. At the Bootleg Wednesday January 25th: I am tempted because of Jackson Browne, plus it is an excellent cause. I know a few of the other local performers and I was wondering what had happened to Eleni Mandell, this woman just doesn’t get enough exposure.

Murder City Devils at the Teragram Ballroom, Sunday February 12th: There will be blood, at least some serious, ferocious and loud rock & roll. And this may be just what I need on a Sunday night.
