Nov 26 Protest Songs For Ferguson
It got me thinking of protest songs for the people of Ferguson. I have somewhat liberal friends who agree with the verdict but I don’t. In the end of the Police Force is 98% white and the population of Ferguson is 98% black, this is, to put it simply, apartheid

Nov 26 Bob Geldof Wants You To Delete This Charity Song And Download It Again?
We need to sell 300% more than we did than [in 1984] to even begin to make up the cash figure,’ said Geldof on BBC Radio 1. ‘That worries me … Even if you already have it, delete, download again.’

Nov 26 Will Butler’s Upcoming Album (And Listen To A First Song ‘Take My Side’)
Policy is American music—in the tradition of the Violent Femmes, the Breeders, the Modern Lovers, Bob Dylan, Smokey Robinson, the Magnetic Fields, Ghostface Killah. And John Lennon (which counts).’

Nov 26 Joni Mitchell Talks (About John Lennon)… Just Not To Us
“That’s Lennon’s class difficulty he had. He’s a working-class lad. I’m sure he had that same fight withGeorge Martin because he was afraid that he was betraying his class. I know I’m going to get into hot water if I get into this but I have controversial opinions about him”

Nov 26 10 Songs: Wednesday, November 26th, 2014
All these twee folkies are the UK equivalent of Jack Johnson, maybe a little more serious and a little better, but equally irritating. I am seriously dreading Vance Joy opening for Swift and this guy is just about as good though this song buiklds up nicely – B

Nov 25 Strange Parallels To Elliott Smith’s Mysterious Case
first, as you are going to see, it has a lot of similarities with Elliott’s, secondly, Eline’s brother, Daniël Melters, a postdoc at NIH/NCI, writes this blog to gather his meticulous research about his sister’s death, since he has been very suspicious since the beginning.

Nov 25 Marshall Crenshaw’s “Move Now” EP Reviewed
“Move Now” is the 5th of 6, and not a teaser for an album. Actually, the EPs ARE the album: once the 6th one has run it’s course there’ll be an album containing the best stuff from the EP series, possibly a new song, definitely a couple remixes, etc. That’s the actual plan right now.”

Nov 25 Not With The Band: Women, Music And Menstrual Cycles!
Scientists have found that music stimulates more parts of the brain than any other human function, and we don’t know exactly why, but one thing is sure, it has a tremendous effect on women and girls,… we know that since Elvis Presley and Beatlemania, but was that always the case?

Nov 25 Gene Clark’s “Two Side To Every Story” Deluxe Double Album Reviewed
The rockers on the ten track album, the fiddly dee “Home Run King” were little gems, no less than the gorgeous steel guitar on “Lonely Saturday”. It sounds like Gene is channeling Jim Reeves. The album is an aching beautiful and sad thing. The live album sounds a helluva lot like the Hot Burritos brother, and it has a country soulfulness and swing the Eagles never came close to

Nov 25 Q Magazines Top 50 Albums of 2014: Terrible Unpopness

Nov 25 10 Songs: Tuesday, November 25th, 2014
Inspired use of Rare Earth’s “I Just Want To Celebrate” anchors this terrific horns aplenty party track off the soundtrack to the latest Madagascar movie. The sight of 100s of penguins tap dancing to this track will leave you… well, it will probably leave you queasy but the track is still a goodie – B+
