Arroyo Seco Weekend is becoming my favorite festival for many reasons, yesterday was a glorious one, with choices to make, as it is the case for all festivals, but a front row spot for Pretenders, Jack White and Neil Young sounded like a VIP treatment.

The festival is great because of its location, green, bucolic and spacious, because it marks the beginning of summer, and because of the lineup, probably more family-oriented than other Goldenvoice productions like Coachella and the FYF fest (which is not happening this year by the way) and targeting ‘old people’,… but I am one of these old people after all. Don’t get me wrong, there were plenty of youngsters behind me during Neil Young’s set, which is very reassuring for the next generation. The larger stage, ‘The Oaks’, was the main attraction with a succession of great acts, and since I had found a great spot for Kamasi Washington, I was tempted to stay there for the rest, I barely moved after that, I even got closer and closer, and it was worth it…
