It is apt that Burt Bacharach and Hal David will be the recipients of this years Gershwin Prize, as part of an all start tribute in 2012. The first three honoured were Paul Simon, Stevie Wonder and Paul McCartney.Bacharach says, "It's a great honour to receive this award… It doesn't get any better than this." It is awarded by the Library Of Congress.

Bacharach and David, the hitmaking composer/lyricist of the 1960s are a mirror image of the Gershwin Brothers and like the Gershwins, and unlike the other three honorees, , they wrote for other people.

"Alfie", "This Guy's In Love", "Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head", "I'll Never Fall In Love Again" "The Look Of Love" ,"I Say A Little Prayer",  "Close To You"…. many, many more. Not to mention the excellent Broadway Musical "Promoses Promises"

Hal and Burt had a bad falling out but they were on stage in 2008 (see below) and I am sure they wil appear together.
