Blast From The 90s: TV Trailer For 'In Utero' To Promote The Album's Reissue This September

All apologies to you folks in the future…

This is extremely weird, like some curiosity of the 90s suddenly resurging! An odd TV Trailer for the famous Nirvana’s album has been posted on YouTube, and let’s just say that it’s a bit silly if you have never seen it.

Very pregnant (and young) Kurt Cobain, Krist Novoselic and Dave Grohl are about to give birth under the supervision of Bobcat (Bob Goldthwait) screaming ‘Pain is beautiful, breathe,… push!’ It’s short, loud and outrageous, there’re some dead chickens involved and it’s hilariously bizarre. ‘You know that the placenta makes really yummy soup’ shouts Bobcat at the end’… gross!

Hard to believe that the original Steve-Albini-produced album was released on September 13th 1993, and this video is actually resurging to announce the 20th anniversary deluxe reissue of ‘In Utero’ this coming September. The clip was probably seen by many at the time, but it was recently re-uploaded as part of the promo for the album reissue, that will feature rarities, alternate mixes, B-sides and live recordings and footage.

We don’t make things like this trailer anymore, and it is so refreshing to be reminded how some stars of the 90s weren’t afraid to look ridiculous, and weren’t taking themselves seriously contrarily to many current ones.
