Fall Out Boy's "Young Volcanoes" Reviewed

Fall Out Boy is on a freakin' roll.

They released a new tune called "Young Volcanoes" and it is the best tune that they've released out of the three.  First of all, the entire aspect of the sound is adorable.  It sounds like they're young FOB again, and Patrick even laughs in it- they're having fun, and it's really evident.

It's certainly the most catchy song I've heard in a while.  It's definitely a new sound, and has a more well-rounded feel than "Phoenix" and "Light Em Up".  I take back what I said about "Phoenix"- because this will be THE song of summer 2013.  It has a hint of pop pizazz but is most certainly "indie" enough for the other fans.  It just makes you feel happy, which is really nice.  It has the freeing vibe that was kind of lost in the last album or two they released; FOB always felt super contemporary and just like they knew what teens wanted to hear.  Folie was a little too mature for a lot of fans to appreciate, so now that they've fallen back into their niche, it's clear that this is their true element.

Patrick sounds young again (circa Cork Tree), and you can sense the enjoyment in his voice; it's almost like you can envision him dancing around in the studio.  The instruments are upbeat and peppy, and have a wholesome feel.  It's like the entire band got together and knew exactly what they wanted and it's like somehow you can feel like they bonded over this tune.  Everything about it is gorgeous.  The composition is a little similar to some other radio-tunes from the past, but that's to be expected.  Besides, FOB did it a thousand times better.

Also, if you kind of fangirl when you hear new stuff about them, I'm sure you've already swooned about Patrick's little giggle.  It's so genuine and relatable.  They aren't rock stars with this song- they're just like regular people, having a friggin' BLAST.

It's a beautiful feeling to have Fall Out Boy *really* back. Listen
