We are thrilled to announce that on Friday, July 8th, Bob Dylan and His Band are returning with Mavis Staples to Forest Hills Stadium, where Dylan last performed back in 1965.

Tickets will go on sale Saturday, March 19th at 10am at

Hope to see you there!”

Forest Hills don’t have many shows but they are all first rate ones: Mumford And Sons, Disclosure, Paul Simon… all big shows, honestly. But Bob Dylan with Mavis Staples is a must see biggie, a topnotch twofer in our own backyard and a must see for any fans of American culture and great art.

I admit that I didn’t love the Stavis recent release Livin’ On A High Note as much as the rest of the world, but I sure loved her voice and I have never seen her life. As for Dylan, I haven’t seen him in a couple of years, but I am a true believer and the last time I did see him, at Jones Beach, he was as great as you can be. His last album of new material, Shadows In The Night, was a masterful interpretation of the Great American Songbook that reflected sideways onto Sinatra. Note that Fallen Angels, Shadows Part Two apparently, will be arriving May 8th.

According to

Four-song 7″ is coming out for the Japanese tour and Record Store Day.
Side A:
Melancholy Mood
All or Nothing at All
Side B:
Come Rain or Come Shine
That Old Black Magic

So sounds good to these ears.

I have been obsessing about age and death all weekend, that’s what happens when you get ill for no discernible reason, and with that in mind, not seeing Dylan while he is performing is a huge mistake. As Bowie recently proved, they (and we) won’t be here forever. I remember when the Ramones were playing nyc three times a week for years on end: but the past is another country and when it ends it ends. If Dylan has the stamina of all performers and can still do this when he is ninety years old, that is still only 16 years away.

Me? I’m hoping for  presale code but one way or the other, I’ll be there.
