Already There – Ary – Excellent electronic dance pop by the latest woman from Norway, it pushes forward on house beats but its heart is singer-songwriter, the chorus is addictive – B+

All Good – Capital Kings – Another good CCM song, this time it takes on EDM to terrific effect – B

Holy Books – Death From Above 1979 – NOT A CCM song, just hard hitting hard rock of the loud fast rules variable – B-

Why Don’t You Come – DJDS, Khalid, Empress Of – The DJDS EDM duo worked on Life Of Pablo, and here they have created a hook that nags you to irritation, if it hits it will drive you insane, if it doesn’t you’’ find yourself singing it despite yourself – B-

Obvious – Eden Prince, Cassie – On a real good week for dance pop variants, Cassie continues her return from a 4 year hiatus with a sexy and sweet vocal, and Eden Prince, who we know from Clean Bandit, puts his own name central on this sensual piece of r&b and EDM – B

Girls On Boys – Galantis, ROZES – Man, this is a good week for EDM pop, a totally addictive hook (no idea what’s making that noise, it sounds like a filtered synth of sorts), and a good storyline – B

Domino (Time Will tell) – Hiss Golden messenger – Crap name for a duo, but fine Americana folk rocking classicism – B

Deathless – Ibeyi, Kamasi Washington – I saw em at Summerstage a coupla years ago, sitting in front of the arrogant Nelson George, who loved them and I don’t. This is an OK piece of diaspora agro – C+

Eyes Closed – In Real Life – Boy band old school, like Backstreet Boys or something – C+

If I’m Lucky – Jason Derulo – This should be another sweet nothing that hits for the soulful hunk of biceps – C+

Selfish Love – Jessie Ware – Beautiful voice, very soulful, and with a terrific song behind her, this should do well – B+

Lil Pump – Gucci Gang – Louder than your average baby trap, hook upon hook upon hook and all the same one: Gucci Gang – B

Atom – Madison Mars – Pleasant enough EDM –just simple but clear house – B

La Isla Bonita Live – Madonna – from the best tour of Madonna’s career pushing one of her very best albums, this one is maracas crazy – B+

Living For Love Live – Madonna – Cmon Maddie, this is mediocre dance five years behind the times – C+

What Lovers Do – Maroon 5, SZA – Iffy song and SZA doesn’t save it – C+

Toe To Toes – Mastodon – Like emocore with a wicked guitarist – B

Staying Up – Matoma, The Vamps – Ugh, Norwegian DJ meets the most irritating boy band on the planet – MUST TO AVOID – D+

That’s All – Mauve – A little obvious, indie band plus beats – C+

Humble Pie – Musiq Soulchild – The most boring experimental r&b guy on the planet – C

Uno Mas – N.O.R.E. – He was real good in the 00s but hasn’t much mattered seen, Pharrell doesn’t help – C

Broken Machine – Nothing But Thieves – Totally annoying indie slow soft low plus beats – D+

Crybaby – Paloma Faith – Huge in the UK but if this is anything to go by, I can’t see why. Nice upper register that she sprinkles in… C

My Style – Poppy, Charlotte – Awesome little pop song from internet sensation kinda like EDM but less rigid, it might become a major annoyance but till then it is relentlessly upbeat and sweet, apparently she is playing a character called Charlotte or something, but that needn’t bother us  – SINGLE OF THE WEEK B+

Devil In Me – Purple Disco Machine – Fatboy Slim did the remix and it is very good, strong soul song old school – B

Bones Of Saints – Robert Plant – Cool old school rocker with a nifty uitar solo and , of course, a terrific vocal – B

Good Life – Sammie, Rick Ross – R&b vocal plus the ever irritating Rick Ross – C+

So Am I – Ty Dolla $ign, Damian Marley – meh beats and reggae – C

You’re The Best Thing About Me – U2 – “a joyous ear-worm about romantic dissatisfaction. Larry Mullen Jr. holds time with a firm, stuttering pattern on drums, and the Edge carries the chorus with pretty shards of melody from his guitar. High backing vocals echo many of Bono’s lines, and the singer shows off his own falsetto during a gliding, multi-tracked bridge”. So says Rolling Stone, but what it is is an ok rocker with a lousy chorus – C+
