Gwyneth Paltrow Selling Hip Hop Theme Clutches?
White people always appropriate black culture and music it is a given, last year, two white dudes named Macklemore and Lewis were awarded best rap album at the Grammys, while this year, the biggest winner was white British singer Sam Smith, the new soul singer,… and the list goes on and on. But at least these people are making music. Why does Gwyneth Paltrow think she is entitled to sell hip hop theme fashion items?
On her pretentious website Goop, you know, ‘one of the rare places on the web where food, shopping, and mindfulness collide – where the ever-evolving intent is to make every choice count’, clutches like the one above are on sale, decorated with cursive letters, with ‘Biggie’ (for Notorious B.I.G.) in white on one side, and ‘Pac’ (for Tupac) in red on the other side. There is even another one with Hov on one side and Shady on the other side!
‘We asked Edie Parker to designed a duo of hip-hop-themed clutches, just for us,’ says the description and of course they are sold for the modest sum of $1,695 each.
Seriously, why Gwyneth Paltrow can capitalize on hip hop culture? Because she hangs out with Jay Z and is a fan of rap? Everything she does seem so fake and dubious, is she even aware of B.I.G. and Tupac rivalry? Does she know that Biggie may be behind Tupac’s attack? They both died from gunshot wounds due to east coast-west coast clash, so I guess putting their names of the same bag is questionable. Only Gwyneth could turn two casualties of rap war into a fashion accessory. As for Jay Z and Eminem, these two don’t get along either, last year, Jay-Z said Eminem was the most overrated rapper of all time… then if you want a murder in your handbag, sorry your clutch, visit Gwyneth’s Goop.
