1. Sweet Home Chicago – Freddie King – This guitar sound is so heavy it sounds like a supple bass or a rhythm guitar turned to 11, and the notes bend around the melody in a sledgehammer precursor to metal – A

2. When You Wish Upon A Star – Mary J. Blige – Recorded so a cricket can say it bested Blige and Streisand – C

3. All I Want For Christmas – Michael Buble – Back in the album Top 10 for another season and this is a credible version of a good song because, well, it is good but not great – B+

4. Little Drummer Boy – Pentatonix – A capella is the new hair metal – B-

5. Ragin’ Cajun Redneck Christmas – The Robertsons – It can’t be this bad, can it? It must be some sort of ragin cultural despair and not the music – C-

6. Love Game – Eminem, Kendrick Lamar – Like the sample, don’t you? – B

7. Champagne Coast – Blood Orange – One of the best songs of 2011, he better start playing it live – A

8. Presence Of The Lord – Eric Clapton – Splendid live version from 1974 – A-

9. I Know It’s Gonna Happen Sometime – David Bowie – Like Bowie singing like Morrissey singing like Bowie – A-

10. Gambling Woman Blues – Freddie King – It seems to drag its heart for the entire 20 minutes – A
