Is Johnny Rotten A Good For Nothing Sexist Pig?

Johnny is a super cool cat.  What I love is how he can be such a jerk to the press, all these years later.  No longer a Pistol he is still a pisser and I swear if every punk aged that well we’d be a much cooler society.  Lydon never makes excuses for his behavior, nor should he.  He is an icon and should remain so.  Think of those that shared his punk lineage and figure out how many are even left alive.  Most are dead- and with them perpetual youth.  As Debbie Harry said “die young, stay pretty’

But Lydon lived.  So the master of the great rock and roll swindle is still out their swilling and like the true huckster he is, periodically making a bit of controversy to keep things nice and sassy.    You’ve most likely read about his ‘sexist’ remarks from Australian press, boo fucking hoo suck it up.  If Lydon granted me an interview and opted to throw a jab at me I would take it as an honor.   So he apparently said ‘shut up’ and was therefore branded ‘rude and arrogant and sexist’ by Carrie Bickmore.  Bickmore is enjoying her bit of international fame now isn’t she.

Following Lydons arrival in Sydney, he told reporters gathered at the airport, "If someone is going to keep interrupting you and don't let you finish a sentence you are going to have to say something at some point whether it be male or female. To make a difference, that is sexist on her (Bickmore's) part not mine… My only enemies are the governments and institutions. Certainly not women. I've been married to one for 30 years. We love each other…

"There were a lot of people shouting at each other all at once and I couldn't quite make out what was what and some really silly and idiotic words have been used and bandied about since. It's quite clear to me I'm not a sexist and I'm not a misogynist."

However, he courted controversy again by comparing the panelists to a group of baying hyenas, adding, "I didn't know whether they were males or females at the other end, basically they sounded like hyenas. And you have to tell a hyena to 'shut it' from time to time."

When a female reporter asked Lydon whether he was deliberately trying to make headlines to sell tickets, he replied, "Just sell some tickets? I'm in the entertainment business, you silly girl!"
