Jack White has hardly released his new and first solo album that he already has another project in view. According to Variety, White will score the upcoming Walt Disney pictures, ‘The Lone Ranger’, as producer Jerry Bruckheimer announced at CinemaCon, the annual convention for theater owners.
This is gonna be White’s first film score, if you omit his ‘memorable’ song with Alicia Keys for the James Bond ‘Quantum of Solace’.
Some websites are suggesting White may appear in the movie, but Bruckheimer is just excited by the idea as he told Variety:
‘Jack's an amazing songwriter with a unique style. We're thrilled to hear his fresh take on the William Tell Overture.'
The Lone Ranger is based on the popular TV series of the 50s, and it will star Johnny Depp (as Lone ranger’s native American sidekick) and Armie Hammer (as the masked crime fighter). Bruckheimer said the idea to hire White came from Gore Verbinski and Depp, which makes sense when you know that Gore Verbinski was in several LA punk-rock bands as a teenager, and you are aware of Depp’s connections with music: didn’t he play guitar with Marilyn Manson in Los Angeles a few days ago? And have you noticed the beard grooming likeness in this picture?
