New Music: Friday: The dust hasn’t settled but pretty much as expected, the Lana Del Rey album, Lust For Life, is one of the best albums of the year, and the Nine Inch Nail EP and Tyler The Creator album aren’t that hot. As good as Lana is the new Romeo Santos, in the post Luis Fonsi age, if they promote it right (ie get Selena Gomez for the remix) it could break pop. Rap is represented by  Meek Mill: OK, lotsa superstar featured stars; EDM by Steve Aoki, I’d quite liked that Gucci Mane and T-Pain song.

Old Music: I went heavy into 70s disco all week, meanwhile my opinion of Presley’s Live In Memphis from 1974 is still formulating. One thing for sure, it isn’t as good as as the Live In Hawaii or Live In New York albums. Memphis was the last live album released in Presley’s lifetime, and there is a sense of inevitably as you hear it.

Concerts: I wonder why Kendrick Lamar decided not to use a full band, or any band, last night. It was a serious loss, not even a DJ, he should backing tapes exclusively. The rapping for the most part was superlative but Lamar isn’t a good enough live performer to simply carry the show on his back.

More Concerts: The world is heating up! As is New York, in the 90s for days. Phish tonight, Muse Monday, Ski Mask The Slut God on Wednesday, Tom Petty on Thursday, Panorama (aka Solange and Frank Ocean) on Friday and the Eagles on Saturday…

Sports: So, post their mega trade the Yankees are 1 -1. and at this time and place I guess they will wild card into the Playoffs (though the Rays are currently in second place in the AL East).

POTUS: Trump is like the worst best friend in the entire Universe, it doesn’t matter who you are, he’ll throw you under the bus if only for the exercise. He is made of the same cloth as Kim Jong-Un, Putin, Assad… they demand loyalty and destroy you whether you provide it or not. Watching the US in 2017 is like watching Bill Cosby when the rape charges first started, he slowly shed his entire image to discover a monster underneath.
