The Beyonce Effect: O.T. Genasis on Bey using “Everybody Mad: “…I was like, ‘Oh yeah. This is lit right here. I sat there and I was like ‘not only did she play my song, but the band played to it.’ You actually have to put that together and be at rehearsal…that’s just dope, especially since I didn’t really get the credit I felt I deserved for the song when I made it. For her to realize that, man, and to show me love, that was crazy. ”

Stalker (Not Me): Taylor Swift Alleged Stalker Arrested With Knife, Mask and Rope…. it’s not easy being Taylor…

It’s Not Easy Being Taylor 2: “US District Judge Michael W. Fitzgerald has denied Swift’s attempt to make a pair of songwriters pick up her $75,000 legal bill — and took time out to accuse the pop star of belittling infringement claims of the sort she’ll likely be making herself some day. “Be careful what you wish for,” Fitzgerald wrote in his 10-page decision. “There are very few recording artists, if any, who have a greater interest than Ms. Swift in a robust regime of copyright law.”

New Music: Some newbies clocked in: Smokepurpp, Wrekmeister Harmonies, and A Place To Bury Strangers all had strong new releases last Friday.

Old Music: Deep into Chaos And Creation In The Backyard and it is a great one from McCartney…

Anti-Semitism: I am on the verge of spinning Germany’s most popular rap duo, Kollegah and Bang, who have just been accused of Anti-Semitism: “In Germany’s hugely popular hip-hop music scene, one of the biggest albums of the past year was from two trash-talking rappers who rhymed about their prowess in bed and in the weight room and about violently dominating their opponents. The album has racked up sales, but has also attracted a different sort of attention. In one song, the pair boast about how their bodies are “more defined than Auschwitz prisoners.” In another, they vow to “make another Holocaust, show up with a Molotov.” Widespread condemnation turned into an uproar in the last week since the rappers, Farid Bang and Kollegah, won the Echo award for best hip-hop album at Germany’s equivalent of the Grammys on April 12.” Among those leading the condemnation is the top punk band Die Toten Hosen.

More Anti-Semitism: “A fraternity at Syracuse University has been suspended after racist anti-Semitic videos of members surfaced in the student newspaper. I solemnly swear to always have hatred in my heart for n—–rs, sp*cs and most importantly the f–kin’ k-kes,” one young man in Theta Tau says during a sketch published by the Daily Orange.”

NK meets USA: “President Trump declared on Wednesday that he would scrap a planned summit meeting with North Korea’s leader, Kim Jong-un, or even walk out of the session while it was underway, if his diplomatic overture was not heading toward success.”

Sports: Nice win by the Mets while the Yanks are mired at .500.

Ring Ring Goes The Bell: “Oklahoma teacher had sex with student before and after statewide school walkout.” The boy was 15. Nice work if you can get it, boy. This is one of those rare occasions where I can state categorically that I myself would be pissed as hell if I was 15 and they arrested a teacher for letting me fuck her.

Concerts: James Comey tonight in a q and a, Weepies on Friday, and, more excitedly, the Stephen Schwartz tribute on Monday. I walked out of Nick Cave last time I saw him at the Beacon, where his bathetic touching hands with fans drove me crazy, but I will be much further away on October 24th, 2018 at Barclays.
