Sports: Is it opening day yet? When the Knicks are in double digits below the Celtics in their division, it becomes the one time in the year where New York sports has ceased to exist. Who knows what we can expect from the Yanks this year, but if they can get to the world series… or, at least like last year, give us a team we want to root for, I’ll be happy. If George is reading this, he is doing cartwheels in his grave.
Old Music: I am readying myself to review Songs For Swingin’ Lovers, one of Sinatra’s two most beloved albums (From March, 1956!), and I love it too except, take away “You Make Me Feel So Young” and the amazing built up crescendo on “I’ve Got You Under My Skin” and it goes from one of the greatest to great. I figure somewhere between A- and A.
New Music: Lucy Dacus and Soccer Mom are not exactly to my taste, but I prefer Lucy to her BFF Julien Baker, and Soccer Mom to both so maybe I should stop struggling and learn to love brooding women.
Books: I finally finished “Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House,” Michael Wolff’s vision of the Trump’s earliest days in the WHite House. DO I believe it? Not particularly, yet if it isn’t accurate it is certainly true to our perception.
POTUS: If Trump gets NK to dismantle their bombs then I would consider Trump a better President than Obama and Dubya combined. People say that even if it happens, that’s not Trump’s success. My reply is that if there was a nuclear conflict it would be Trump’s fault, if there isn’t one then guess what? It is also Trump’s fault. There is nothing more important issue facing the world.
Gun Control: I am all for an armed militia, let’s call them the Police.
The Weather: My office is closed and the school’s are open. Another no win situation… so off to work I go…
