Plague Vendor

Another week with a lot of shows happening. This is just a small selection and many of them are totally free.

On Monday 10th, Garbage featuring Shirley Manson, Duke Erikson, Steve Marker, and Butch Vig are doing a signing of their new book, This Is the Noise That Keeps Me Awake, at Amoeba at 6 pm,… the event is sold out but you may still get a glimpse of the band if you like.

At the Echo, Bloody Death Skull are continuing their residency with Part Time, Wyatt Balir and the Fuzzy Crystals, while AOE (Ambassadors of Earth) are continuing theirs at the Satellite, with I, Us, & We, Wake the Wild and Love Bomb.

On Tuesday 11th, Joseph Arthur is playing at the Teragram ballroom, and Allison Pierce and blues prodigy Ray Goren are opening.

On Wednesday 12th, The promising young artist Spencer Ludwig, who looks like Prince with a trumpet, is playing a free show at the Grove with the Aces
On Thursday 13th, you can dance along all the reggae you want with reggae queen Marcia Griffiths and Jah9, one of the many concerts of the Twilight Concert Series at Santa Monica Pier.

Dreamgrunge Psychic Love will play another free show at the Satellite with Sea Ghouls and Yeses, and Rise Against is playing at the Shrine Expo Hall with Of Mice & Men and one of my favorite live bands of the moment, the mighty Plague Vendor. They are also playing on Friday

On Friday 14th, stormy desert-wanderer ExSage, a band I have seen quite a few times, has a EP release party at the Echo, with Wendy Bevan, Gateway Drugs and Polyplastic. Chic featuring Nile Rodgers will play at the Wiltern, and the fast-as-lightning psych-rock band Frankie and the Witch Fingers have a show at the Smell with Mind Meld and others.

And there is another signing at Amoeba, the unique and only Snoop Dogg will sign his new CD ‘Neva Left’ inside the store at 4:20 pm

On Saturday 15th, R&B sensation Miguel is playing the first of the Sound in Focus free concert series at Annenberg Foundation and Gabriel Garzon-Montano is opening. Dos Lobos, two members of the famous East LA band Los Lobos i.e. David Hidalgo and Cesar Rosas, are playing a free show at Levitt Pavilion.

Meanwhile, I am not sure I am ready for another music festival but The Classic West, featuring The Eagles, Steely Dan and the Doobie Brothers on Saturday and Fleetwood Mac, Journey ad Earth, Wind and Fire on Sunday, will headline this new fest at the Dodger Stadium. It looks like a line up of old Coachella/Desert Trip, except that you will not have to go very far to attend it.

On Sunday 16th, surf rocker Jack Johnson is at the Hollywood Bowl and JAMTOWN featuring Donavon Frankenreiter, G. Love & Cisco Adler (which I saw at the Malibu guitar festival) are opening. Ex-10,000 Maniac Natalie Merchant is at the Greek Theater
