Rostam will perform at The Growlers Six

 

It’s pre-Halloween week so death, skulls and ghosts are the themes of a lot of shows, but beside the expected gory parties, there is the usual vast choice of entertainment in Los Angeles, and the new The Growlers Six festival during the weekend.

On Monday 23rd, Tegan And Sara are at The Theatre At Ace Hotel for ‘The Con X: Tour’, Sheryl Crow is at the Fonda Theatre with Particle Kid, Alvvays are at The Roxy with Nap Eyes, Dorothy is at The Viper Room, Nai Palm (of Hiatus Kaiyote) is at the El Rey Theatre, Generationals are at the Teragram Ballroom with Benjamin Jones, Chris Hillman & Herb Pedersen play an intimate show at The Troubadour with John Jorgenson, and the Echoplex is hosting a Loudwire Awards Pre-Party with Beartooth, Avatar, Ded, My Ticket Home, King Woman, Royal Thunder.

Goon and Alyeska continue their joint residency at The Echo with Liv Slingerland and Raspberry Blonde, The Americans are at The Satellite with Bird Concerns, MetronOhm and Vattica, It’s A School Night! has Braeves, Bonnie McKee and The Amazons at Bardot, and Nina Nesbitt is at The new Peppermint Club.

On Tuesday 24th, LSD And The Search For God are at Resident with LEAF & Clear, ExSage is at the Moroccan Lounge with Flames of Durga, The Bomb, The Tissues, Tegan And Sara have a second show at The Theatre At Ace Hotel, and Haley Reinhart is at El Rey Theatre with Alexander Jean and Savannah Outen. The Afrobeat band Antibalas will be at Amoeba, electronic artist Mystery Skulls  at The Troubadour with Phone Call and hey!dw, Scarlet Pleasure at The Peppermint Club, Lee Renaldo at Zebulon with Itasca, and Glowbird at the Redwood Bar with Ale, Pleasure Burn and Lorenzo Topete.

On Wednesday 25th, There is a Benefit for L.A. Kitchen with Plexxaglass, Yume, Bedbugs & Spencer Robinson and the Wolf Spiders at the Hi Hat, Escape-ism (Ian Svenonius of The Make-Up) is at the Resident with POW! And Urgent Care, Bloody Death Skull, Drinking Flowers, Sloppy Jane, Billy Uomo are at Zebulon, M. Ward and Rhiannon Gibbons are at the Walt Disney Concert Hall, Decorator is at the Satellite with Rooms, Zach Alwin, Blackbird Days continue their residency at the Redwood bar with Modern Dogs, Sylvia Black and The Cuellers, The Bones of J.R. Jones is at the Bootleg with Melaena Cadiz, Leroy from the North, and Yeah Yeah Yeahs are at the Fonda for a very sold out show.

On Thursday 26th, Iron & Wine have a sold out show at Cathedral Sanctuary at Immanuel Presbyterian Church, Kelela is at El Rey Theatre, Atlas Genius are at the Regent with Magic Giant and Half the Animal, 6lack  is at the Fonda Theatre with Sabrina Claudio and Sy Ari Da Kid, Hollywood Undead are at The Roxy with Butcher Babies and Demrick, Badass Bands Shoot & Show will feature Twin Temple, The Schizophonics and Yacht Punk at the Hi Hat, and Play Like a Girl presents Vava at Harvard And Stone with Tillie and Irene Green.

Friday 27th, SadGirl has a Halloween / Tour Kick-Off at The Hi Hat with Wild Wing, BOYO and Red Channel, Paul Weller is at the Wiltern with Lucy Rose, Thievery Corporation are at the Hollywood Palladium, BØRNS has a show (sold out) at The Viaduct, Jessie J  is at The Troubadour with Stanaj and DE’Wayne Jackson, Poppy has a sold out show at the Echoplex, The Interrupters & SWMRS are at the Fonda Theatre with Sharp Shock and Johnny Madcap and the Distractions, The Devil Wears Prada is at the Teragram Ballroom with Veil of Maya, and Thousand Below, Paul Cauthen is at The Roxy with The Texas Gentlemen, The Aquadolls play at The Smell with Precious Kid, Lily Waters, Gypsum, and Cody Simpson & The Tide are at The Peppermint Club.

But the weekend probably belongs to The Growlers Six, a two-day festival at L.A. Waterfront featuring Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Modest Mouse, The Black Keys’ Dan Auerbach, Butthole Surfers, Danny Brown, Girl Talk, Guided By Voices, Bad Brains, Fear, The B-52s, Mike Watt & the Secondmen, Jenny Lewis’ Nice As Fuck, former Crystal Castles singer Alice Glass, ex-Dirty Projectors member Amber Coffman, Rostam, Beach Fossils, Girlpool, Ought, Delicate Steve, Tinariwen and a few more!

On Sunday 29th, Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival 2017 continues at Exposition Park, the Growlers Six continues at L.A. Waterfront. Slowdive is at the Wiltern with Cherry Glazerr, Livingmore and Nightgown have a single release party at the Echo with Rival Cavves, Ever So Android, and there is a rap party at the Echoplex with B.O.M.B., Warhol SS, Chxpo, Ill Chris, Kid Jone$, Crime Wave, Shawn Parker, Crow, Sounds by Anvil.
