Morrissey, lilveWelcome back Morrissey. After claiming his opening act had given him the flu and then saying he had cancer, he cancelled his American tour, advised his record company they had no contract with him thereby causing them to pull all digital copies, getting married to a man, and calling omnivores the equivalent of child molesters, missing Morrissey on Saturday at Madison Square Garden is not an option. Morrissey not showing? That’s a possibility.

Monday – Soul Asylum, Meat Puppets – Bowery Ballroom – Here come the 1990s, I bet there are lotsa requests for “Runaway Train”.

Monday – The Front Bottoms – MHOW – They sucked live last year and the new two song single only worked half the time, still these late 20s teens are much loved.

Monday – The Main Event: NKOTB with very special guests TLC and Nelly – MSG – Wait a second… Nelly?

Wednesday: John Fogerty: 1969 – Radio City Music Hall – “Down on the Corner” and “Fortunate Son,” were two of his hits in 1969…

Thursdays – Chrisette Michelle – BB Kings – Superior r&b chanteuse with an excellent recent release on a new label to sell.

Thursday, Friday – Bette Midler – MSG – With last years terrific girl group tribute album It’s The Girls to draw upon, expect this to be spectacular even by Bette Midler’s sky high standards.

Thursday – David Crosby – Town Hall – His Croz is a great album, I wish I could make it. If I have the bucks, Id stubhub a ticket to Friday’s Bette, sell my Thursday and check out this one as well.

Friday – Desaparecidos – Rough Trade – I’ve heard the new one Payola on NPR, pretty darn good as well.

Friday – Ty Segall – Mercury Lounge – An acoustic set but one of the new breed of  guitar indie heroes performing an acoustic set.

Friday – En Vogue – Terrific r&b trio via the 1990s, figure them an early Destiny Child with a better lead singer.

Friday – Richard Thompson Trio – Town Hall – His new album Still is not as good as his ex wife’s last album, but good enough to warrant a viewing of the great guitarist here.

Friday – Sunday – South By South Orange Festival – Great blues musician Tomas Doncker is helping launch the new arts and music festival this weekend.

Friday – Sunday – Farmborough Festival – Three day country music festival at Randall’s Island – headliners are Brad Paisley, Luke Bryan and Dierks Bentley and that won’t do it even slightly. They need maybe six more huge names.

Saturday – Maxi Priest – City Foundation’s Summerstage – Maximum reggae summer spalsh and for free at 3p.

Saturday – Barclay Center – Contemporary Color – David Byrne’s flag waving thingy.

Saturday – Rush: R40 Live Tour 2015 – Prudential Center – Geddy Lee says this must be the end unles they need more money for any reason at all.
