Listen To Gabriel’s New Single, ‘Baby It’s You’
Born in Chicago and raised in Los Angeles, singer songwriter Gabriel will release his first EP called, ‘Love Lives Here’ mid-May, but you can already listen to the first single, ‘Baby It’s You’, which is already available on iTunes, Spotify and other platforms.
‘Baby It’s You’ is a very upbeat rock tune, with a combination of fierce vocals and catchy chorus, an inviting track which was described as a ‘great rock song in the vein of John Mellencamp blended with REM, only with a slightly Tommy Stinson-style pop edge’. This is quite accurate as Gabriel mixes multi influences in a 3-minute song, while wrapping them inside a country-rock tempo with a very muscular delivery and a touch of Michael Stipe in the vocals.
Although he grew up in a Latin-American household, he admits to have been influenced by many musical genres, ranging from Procol Harum and ‘Summer of Love’ bands to rock and roll and rhythm n blues, while keeping a tremendous love for the British invasion bands. But beside the obvious ones like the Beatles or the Rolling Stones, Gabriel had a special soft spot for Faces’ Rod Stewart, who made him want to sing. And from this love for the classics is born a dedication to write well-crafted and engaging songs, such as ‘Baby It’s You’, that can instantaneously make you sing along or foot tap on the edge of the stage.
After a life centered around music as a booker and as a musician who played for several bands, Gabriel is now decided to share his own material: ‘I really wanted to start playing and performing these songs I’ve written and with the support and encouragement of friends and family, I am getting them out there now,’ he said.
