Alison Krauss first solo album in sixteen years (she has been performing with her band Union Station and her friend Robert Plant) is a perfect collection of cover songs that has been teetering near the top of the best albums of 2017 since its release. The opportunity to see it performed at the exquisite Radio City Music Hall on Tuesday is not to be missed.

Monday, Tuesday – The Horrors – Rough Trade – Sold Out, of course.

Tuesday – Ten Years After – BB Kings – I don’t blame em for not including Alvin Lee (he died four years ago) and I don’t blame em for turning blues psychedelic jams into a career. Maybe they got something left… and even if they don’t, I wanna hear “I’m Going Home”

Tuesday – ASTRID S PARTY’S OVER WORLD TOUR – Bowery Ballroom – Norway popster, I would think Bowery Ballroom was a little small for her.

Tuesday – The War On Drugs – Terminal 5 – The major label hype didn’t stick but the faithful will show.

Thursday – Katy Perry: Witness The Tour – Mohegan Sun – Thus begins the one place Katy must deliver the goods after the album stiffed

Thursday – Daddy Yankee – Ford Amphitheater at Coney Island Boardwalk – The reigning king of reggaeton

Thursday – Paul McCartney – Barclay Center – If you missed him at MSG, here’s another chance.

Thursday – The Cribs – MHOW – UK’s best rock band.

Friday, Saturday – The Disco Biscuits, Cartel Twins, BoomBox – Ford Amphitheater at Coney Island Boardwalk – The funk jam band of your dreams.

Friday – The Killers – Terminal 5 – A warm up for Global, no doubt

Friday – Bruno Mars: 24K Magic World Tour – Madison Square Garden – The one man jukebox and the result of a wild experimental melding James Brown with  Little Richard with Liberace, is terrific live.

Friday – Mac DeMarco – Radio City Music Hall – The one time I saw the indie popster live I thought he was great, but that was a long time ago and his last coupla recordings dragged me. Still, he will need to up to RCMH…

Friday – Sammy Hagar & The Circle Feat. Michael Anthony, J Bonham & V Johnson – The Grand Theater at Foxwoods Resort Casino – One of my regrets is not seeing Van Hagar, and I would so go if this show was in town.

Friday – Reggaeton Trap – La Boom –  EL GUASON, LARRY OVER, MESSIAH, GUARIBOA… who? Time to catch up.

Friday – Interpol – Bowery Ballroom – Playing their only hit album.

Saturday – Global Citizen Festival, Stevie Wonder, Green Day, The Killers, The Lumineers – Great Lawn At Central Park – All the politicizing is a bore but the performers always bring their A Game, No Doubt once performed an amazing hits only set, so did Coldplay, and so did Stevie Wonder who is headlining again tonight.

Saturday – Brian Wilson presents Pet Sounds: The Final Performances – Radio City Music Hall – Last year Brian chose the same day as Global to perform at Beacon, this year he does the same at Radio City. Bummer.

Saturday – Mercury Lounge – God Tiny – The terrific psyche rock guys on late.
