I went to see his final performance in March and felt that he was a little less exciting than he might be, but this is his second last performance and I can’t resist another viewing at MSG on Friday on what might well really really be his first solo concert proper in nyc.  In March I wrote (here): ” Far from the best time I’ve ever seen the living legend, it was as beneficent a farewell as possible”. One more time? It has to be done.

Tuesday – Marc Roberge – City Winery – If you’re a fan of Oar there is zero debating this one.

Tuesday – Roky Erickson – Rough Trade – Always an honor.

Tuesday – The Brian Jonestown Massacre – Brooklyn Steel – He’s a creepy asshole but he can rock.

Wednesday – Sheryl Crow – Iridium – I haven’t liked her since she irritated the fuck outta me at Roseland opening for Bob Dylan in the early 1990s -1994, I believe. And except for “If It Makes You Happy,” my opinion hasn’t changed much. However, the Iridium is a great room and it would be fun to see Crow in such an intimate environment.

POSITIVELY BOB: WILLIE NILE SINGS BOB DYLAN (ALBUM RELEASE) – City Winery – Willie Nile is absolutely terrific, and the album is good not great.

Thursday – P.O.D. / Alien Ant Farm – Gramercy Theatre – P.O.D. are one of the truly great Christian bands and “Youth Of The Nation” a masterpiece.

Thursday – An Intimate Evening with The Voice of The Monkees: Micky Dolenz – BB Kings – Always the best solo Monkee, he has been awe inspiring the two times I’ve seen him. I wish he’d play the drums.

Friday – UB40 Legends Ali, Astro & Mickey – Playstation – Red red winnnnneeeeeeeeeeeeee

Friday – Speakeasy Presents: Gary Clark Jr. & Jimmie Vaughan – Iridium – On loan from Clapton, and a 2pm show!

Saturday – Outlaw Festival – Jones Beach – Willie Nelson, The Avett Brothers, Sheryl Crow, Margo Price, I bet they shot the sheriff.

Saturday – Depeche Mode: Global Spirit Tour with special guest Warpaint – Madison Square Garden – I haven’t been a fan since Vince Clarke left, I also haven’t seen em live since Clarke, so time to catch up.

Saturday – Bryson Tiller – Radio City Music Hall – He bores me to death live but he can sing.

Saturday, Sunday – Pete Townshend’s Classic Quadrophenia Featuring Pete Townshend – The Metropolitan Opera – Alfie Boe, ugh.

Sunday – Nicky Jam & Plan B “el Ganador” – The Theatre At Madison Square Garden – These Latin American shows us how to do it… should be pure fun.

Sunday – MATTHEW SWEET W/ TOMMY KEENE – City Winery – If there was a divine intervention and they moved this to a Friday, I’d be so there.
