This week is all about Governors Ball and more specific, it is all about Kanye West introducing The Life Of Pedro at Randall’s Island on Sunday, June 5th. To say I am thrilled is to underestimate how excited I am to see our greatest working pop star replay his Yeezus triumph on the same day of the week and at the same place, as he did three years ago. Friday to Sunday – miss it at your peril.

Wednesday – The Monkees – The Town Hall – For their 50th anniversary, Davy is still dead and Mike stayed at home, the albuim is a dog except for a song here and there (Welcome Carole King)

Thursday – Governors Ball & MTV Present Joey Bada$$ – Irving Plaza – I love the Pro Era rapper, and can’t wait to check him out at Governors Ball, however,I, myself,  wouldn’t venture near this gig, not because I think there will be a shooting in T.I.’s wake but because security will be insane.

Saturday –  103.5 KTUphoria, Pitbull, Backstreet Boys, The Chainsmokers, Mike Posner – Jones Beach – A little second rate if you ask me,

Saturday – Dick Gregory – Carolines On Broadway – I usually don’t include comedians, but this man is a seminal black comedian who opened the door for everyone from Richard Pryor to Bill Cosby.

Saturday – Governors Ball & MTV Present Vince Staples – Irving Plaza – The last time I saw this guy he kinda sucked at the A$AP Rocky gig. Let’s see if he has learnt how to perform on stage since then.

Sunday – Hot 97 Summer Jam – I used to go to this religiously, but then they switched it from the Continental Airlines to Giants Stadium and from a Saturday to a Sunday. A  good line up , Big Sean, Pusha T, G.O.O.D. Music, DJ Khaled, A$AP Rocky… and Chance The Rapper.
