It  has been nine months since I caught Lorde at Governors Ball, and about the same since I heard her brilliant sophomore album, so you can be damn sure I am completely thrilled at the prospect of a full show. This will be the fourth time I am seeing her, and it took a live show to change me from a cynic to a believer. At the Barclay Center on Wednesday, my anticipation for Lorde to be one of the best shows of the year is sky high. She is also at the Prudential on Friday. Get to Prudential early and you can check about her BFF Taylor Swift’s Grammy exhibit.

Monday, Tuesday – Dave Davies – City Winery – Dave isn’t Ray but he did do “Death Of Clown” and was absolutely responsible for the Kinks guitar sound.

Monday –  Demi Lovato & DJ Khaled – Prudential Center – DJ Khaled puts me to sleep, but Demi is awesome in person.

Tuesday – James Bay – Brooklyn Steel – Great on SNL, less interesting on record. So this should be fair to great.

Wednesday – We Came As Romans, The Plot In You, Oceans Ate Alaska, Currents, Tempting Fate – Gramercy Theatre – Hardcore heaven, with seating in the back.

Wednesday , Thursday – P!nk – Madison Square Garden – Not crazy about the new album but live she should be swinging from the rafters…. literally, on a trapeze bar.

Thursday – Superorganism – Music Hall Of Williamsburg – This collective indie  art rockers are as hot as a band can be

Thursday – Caroline Rose – Rough Trade – “Bikini” is one of my favorite songs of the year…

Thursday, Friday, Saturday – Brandi Carlile – Beacon Theatre – When Steve Earle said the women were what was happening in modern country, what he meant was this  identifies lesbian country storyteller. She should be great on stage.

Friday – Flatbush Zombies – Rough Trade – Pro Era city limits…

Friday – Bettye Lavette – First rate blues cover artist.

Saturday – Cigarettes After Sex – Brooklyn Steel – Soundscape beauties but it might be boring on stage…

Sunday – Superchunk – Bowery Ballroom – The new album is a goodie and I once saw em out perform Bright Eyes at Radio City, but if they won’t play “Digging For Something” all bets are off…

Sunday – The War on Drugs – Brooklyn STeel – Their big major label release was boring and tanked, live they might deliver
