With the exception of their debut album, Queens Of The Stone Age have constructed a wonderful inside baseball setlist covering all their albums…

Rated R – One Song

Lullabies To Paralyze – Two Songs

Era Vulgaris – Three Songs

Songs For The Deaf – Four Songs

…Like Cocktail – Five Songs

Villains – Six Songs

And they will be playing them Tuesday night at Madison Square Garden. While, due to QOTSA fanatic, rock nyc’s QOLA Alyson Camus, we have covered it a lot, I have never seen em live and it took the Mark Ronson co-produced Villains to get me to check em out…

Monday, Tuesday  – Johnny Clegg – The Final Journey – BB Kings – If all Clegg did was Juluka, formed in 1979, he would be a pioneer of South African anti-apartheid well before it was safe from either whites or blacks. It wasn’t and he has had a long career of inventive Afro-Pop and let’s hope the title of his show doesn’t mean he is retiring, his cancer is in remission so let’s hope it doesn’t.

Monday, Tuesday – Lana Del Rey – Terminal 5 – I saw her near the start of her career at Irving Plaza and she was terrible, I bet she’s better now and if it was anywhere else I might find out for sure.

Tuesday – Aminé – Tour For You – Irving Plaza – His new album is killer, with “Veggies” and “Caroline” both hits.

Tuesday – T-Pain – Gramercy Theatre – He is the only man with a license to use autotune and the sort of songs that has had Taylor Swift performing with him and Lily Allen covering him.

Tuesday –  Imagine Dragons, Grouplove, K.Flay – Prudential Center – Well, now, this is as brutal as it gets, isn’t it? Still, I’d go just out of general interest.

Wednesday – King Krule – I saw the experimental trip hopper at Bowery Ballroom performing on a dark stage and so good he got away with it. The new album is very good.

Wednesday – MisterWives: Connect The Dots Tour – Terminal 5 -They were very good opening for Panic! At The Disco, and my niece Kristin saw em solo this year and said they were excellent.

Thursday – Japandroids, Cloud Nothings – Brooklyn Steel – A somewhat ace line up of punk rockers.

Thursday – : Power 105.1 Powerhouse, The Weeknd, Migos, French Montana, Cardi B – Barclay Center – I went a coupla years ago and by the end of the night I was dead… that’s the only reason I’m not checking it out this year.

Friday – Gloria Gaynor – BB Kings – Sure, she’s a one hit wonder but what a hit

Friday – Julien Baker – The Town Hall – Really? I’m surprised but good for her, a talented singer songwriter indie folkie

Saturday –  Fall Out Boy, Blackbear, Jaden Smith – I’ve seen FOB a number of times and they are inconsistent, Blackbear is excellent and we will see about Jaden.
