July 2016 Guns N Roses blew me away at MetLife (here), I wrote at the time: “Axl, eyes dilated from what I assume was amphetamines, was running for his life, he didn’t walk anywhere, when he wanted to get out of the way for a solo, he moonsped backwards, when he returned, he ran forward, he didn’t stop, using every inch of the huge stage. If the man wasn’t already a superstar, it would’ve been a superstar performance: it validated insanity through art. “I’m not complaining, not at all” Rose said, discussing the weather, but he meant everything at once”. GNR are performing at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday and miss it at your peril.

Monday – Kesha – Rainbow Tour 2017 – Hammerstein Ballroom – Now she has stopped acting like a whacked out loser and taken control of her career, watch her do it live.Black Lips (eh???) is opening.

Monday – Clean Bandit – Brooklyn Steel – EDM meets classical from the UK.

Monday – Tricky – Music Hall Of Williamsburg – I saw him open for Bjork back in the 90s, smokin’ blunts on a very dark stage. Still pretty good.

Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday – Future Islands – Brooklyn Steel – The band you call when Real Estate are on hiatus.

Tuesday – Cults – MHOW – They were pretty good three years ago and their recently released newbie is sweet indie pop.

Tuesday – Neon Trees – Bowery Ballroom – The indie band hit a high in 2010 and haven’t managed to replicate it, but they are still pretty good.

Wednesday – Madeintyo, K Swisha, 24hrs, Johnny Drama, Mir Fontane His new song with Kyle is awesome.

Wednesday, Thursday  – Sparks – Le Poisson Rouge – Art rock at its strangest from the 70s stars.

Friday – Halsey, Partynextdoor, Charli XCX – Ah yes, the new world of girls EDM awake, and Partynextdoor who just got arrested crossing the border with Xanax and Oxycodone on him.
