Borderline groupies surviving on hand me downs from men higher up the food chain… I wrote that about Bananarama back in 1986 after a spectacularly  unsuccessful interview. Time has calmed me down a lot, and listening to them today, they were quite alright. Nothing great, but certainly harmless in a neon lit puke colored, crappy hair but Keren at least was way fit. So I can’t resist catching em their reunion gig at Playstation on Friday…

Monday – Dave East – Irving Plaza – One of the best new rappers out of Harlem, he is about rapping and he has superb flow.

Tuesday – Steve Earle – City Winery – He was so good last month I am going again.

Tuesday – KAT EDMONSON WINTER RESIDENCY CITY VINEYARD – She wasn’t great when I caught her a coupla years ago at LPR… but who knows, right?

Wednesday – Joe Budden – Highline Ballroom – The best thing about the great any way  rap supergroup Slaughterhouse, is always worth catching.

Thursday – Uriah Heep – Gramercy Theatre – Old school UK prog rock and ever so ‘umble to boot.

Friday – Blues Traveler – 30th Anniversary Tour – Irving Plaza – They’ve only got two hits but they are bvoth terrific and more power to them for maintaining a career for decades on em. Plus the fat guy lost weight, which makes him look scary and scary is always more fun than fun loving…

Friday – The Dandy Warhols, Jacuzzi Boys – Hammerstein Ballroom – These cats forged a career with two hits less than Blues Travellers.

Saturday – Tyler, the Creator, Vince Staples – The Theatre At Madison Square Garden – Our Mary Rudzis (aka Magpie) is going,  Tyler sucked at Governors Ball last year, but Vince Staples (who sucked at the same venue three years ago) is probably ready for his close up.

Saturday –  Little Big Town, Kacey Musgraves, Midland –  Radio City Music Hall – Country band just like Lady Antebellum but with a better name.

Saturday – Randy Bachman of Bachman-Turner Overdrive & The Guess Who – BB Kings – We have seen something yet.

Sunday – GEORGE HARRISON 75TH BIRTHDAY TRIBUTE FEAT. WILLIE NILE, LUCY KAPLANSKY, MARY FAHL (FORMER LEAD SINGER OF THE OCTOBER PROJECT), THE KENNEDYS, JENNI MULDAUR, ZESHAN B, AND FOUNDING MEMBERS OF THE FAB FAUX, RICH PAGANO AND JACK PETRUZZELLI –  Yeah, but, it starts at TWO PM!!! Sold out but even so
