If you have never heard the great bassist Kevin Jenkins’ version of “Wichita Lineman,” you have missed one of the master takes on the Jimmy Webb classic. If you have heard it before, that’s no excuse to interrupt his set at the Bitter End, Wednesday , 8pm. But maybe not, since this is a release party for Kevin’s new album, She, all Joni Mitchell covers, it will probably be so great you’ll forget to hector him.

Tuesday – Ed Sheeran – TBA – With what is not only one of the best but also one of the hottest albums of the year just released, Ed is in town to perform a secret gig. When? 6pm. Where? No one knows. Will I be going? I sincerely doubt it but man would I love to.

Thursday – Aaron Watson, Rob Baird – The Marlin Room At Webster Hall – The new Aaron Watson album Vaquero? A country Americana story stuff Chris Stapleton progeny, I gave it a grade: B and it has been getting great press, so this is a coming out party for the cowboy.

Friday – Los Campesinos!, Crying – Warsaw – I’m not crazy about the new album, but on stage Gareth is a natural.

Friday – DMX – BB Kings – If you don’t fancy waiting till the Ruff Ryder reunion, catch the leader here.

Friday – Dawes – Beacon Theatre I have a ticket for this gig but I am having serious second thoughts about it right now. Sure “All your Favorite Bands” is a masterpiece but then what? Then go fish.

Saturday – Regina Spektor – Radio City Music Hall – The new album is a dog, the show at the Town Hall last year was terrible, I didn’t even like the tee-shirt. And yet… it is Regina Spektor.
