Miley Cyrus' "We Can't Stop" Reviewed
It makes me sad when someone incredibly beautiful and incredibly talented goes down the wrong path.
Prime example? Miley Cyrus.
She released a music video for her song “We Can’t Stop”, and I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect. I hadn’t watched one of her videos since “Can’t Be Tamed”, which sucked, but I figured it was time to check up on her.
I always found her to be a girl with massive potential. She could be a model, actress, musician, anything. And she was, for a very long time. Even though I was never a real fan, I was impressed with her success and how she didn’t grow up to just be another slut. And well…
In the video, the gorgeous Miley Cyrus is pretty much exploiting herself to trick people into thinking the song’s any good. It’s sad. She’s twenty years old; it’s ridiculous how she’s acting. Of course she has the right to look however she wants, but it’s really unfortunate when she feels the need to be sexy, when her talent alone could get her the recognition she deserves.
The video is embarrassing to watch. At first, I couldn’t get through it at all, and then forced myself to view the whole thing, praying it was a joke of some sort. The countless product placements, ridiculous scenarios- it makes no sense at all.
The song? Yuck. It’s generic and terrible, and the lyrics are stupid. I wouldn’t be surprised if she had written it herself. There’s nothing good about it except for her singing voice, which is nice. She can sing very well, but seems to not want to rely on it. It’s sad to think how she was probably pushed into being oversexualized and no longer just one of those Disney stars that didn’t go bad.
Miley Cyrus should stop.
