Comment: This is the prologue to my January 1st best albums post. If you are a pop song lover, I don’t know how you can deny Ed Sheeran the first place, released last March, that “Perfect” song is at # 1 on the Hot 100. If he wants to, I bet he can ride it all the way through his Stadium, tour next summer. Not as much rap as you might have expected for a year in which I listened to hip hop more than anything. If Kevin Barnes had released an album, it could have been top five. Same for Jessie Reyez. Rhiannon Giddens was helped by the best concert of the year… I am still listening to Eminem but it is a huge album, undoubtedly. I hear Gucci has another album in the wings, I hope he doesn’t release it this year and force me to revise this list.
