Culture Club – Tribes

Years & Years – Palo Santo

Comment: On one of the quietest weeks of the year and if I was anybody, and however big, I would have held my new releases for July 6th when the entire world will be hungry to hear you. There are only two albums to choose from, and both feature out homosexuals. Olly Alexander, lead singer of boy band synth poppers Years & Years is, after Troye Sivan of course, ithe poster boy for neo-gay hotness and while I have never much cared for Years & Years, listening to “Sanctify” and “If You’re Over Me” two good synth pop singles off Palo Santo. Culture Club recorded Tribes three years ago and it is really excellent, excellent synth pop and soul and sure Boy George doesn’t sound the way he used, gone is that falsetto, gone is the kissing just to be clever, but more than made up for it by beautiful disco romanticism like “Hard Times”. Listen to the most anticipated album of the week below…
