Comment: Must to avoid: I can’t take Arctic Monkeys at any price, Alex Turner is every rock star cliche in the book except the one where you can actually do, I loved two Pavement albums but all these years later Malkmus isn’t very good (he reminds me of Ira Kaplan a little, he keeps on doing it but nowhere as well as he used to), they will be unavoidable but don’t go quietly into that dark night. The most anticipated? Slim pickings, but Ski Mask The Slump God….? Terrific on record and on live I really thought he was the worst but having said that, it is one of the cases where I couldn’t glom onto his deconstruction of the concert while his white, teenage audience went bonkers… I would but Beach House, that ambient dreamscape shoegaze sound, has bored me for years and then I began to like it: like being a het and then at 40 discovering you fancy Jann Wenner. Plus I have tickets to see em so…. Most anticipated it is.
