there is no doubting the hook, “bad things/wishing”… that one.

It wasn’t terrible
‘bad things, there are a lot of bad things”
the Grammys are so tone deaf they shut out “Despacito”
Silly consumer, new rules are for kids
it must be the video
He isn’t that good.
Morrissey and Billy Idol sharing the bill at the Hollywood Bowl

a facsimile of its pop disco funk jones
There is nothing here from last year except Bruno
An excellent top ten
Bruno will be joining Scientology
Creed had successfully worked with Mars for nine years
A bit of a snoozer though better the Weeknd than Ellie, and how sick am I of Bruno and Mark -every time i hear it I want to bitch slap em both… do we really have to hear these fakers for the rest of our lives? The jerks Plus what’s with this damn weather?
I am so tired of saying Bruno Mars is overrated but he is so damn overrated. I wouldn’t say that if Little Richard or James Brown never existed but they do (one does, the other did) exist and so dumbass bruno feels like watered down spineless mimickry. Nothing personal, mind.
Sure, I went with Billboard’s great picture but I think I wanna take five minutes to praise my God liike genius in claiming “Thinking Out Loud” was the one when I noticed it during a first listen of X. Yes, folks I am the King Of The Pop Universe. and Ed Sheeran owes me (and Taylor) big time.
Rappers are still going strong even those I haven’t heard anything from for a long time, like Diddy ($60 million and $1.90 per second)! Beside this you have Calvin Harris ($66 million and $2.09 per second), Jay Z ($60 million and $1.90 per second), and Drake ($33 million and $1.05 per second)
The only excuse for Bruno Mars is huge sales, without huge sales he ceases to be anything at all, but with huge sales he comes a beacon of populist r&b, a Michael Jackson disciple, a true star. “Uptown Funl” is too derivitative up to the place where it hits the top of the charts. After that it is just right.
Today, there is certainly a lot of mediocrity, any American Idol, X Factor product is an example for me! But at the same time, there is a lot of excellent music, it is just harder to find it because of the enormous amount of bands formed every year and songs released each day!
something of a holding pattern though the more I hear the Ronson-Mars collab the more it sounds like a major rip off, I guess it might be considered something like the way “Let’s Dance” ripped off “Twist And Shout” but all of it is a 70s rip off with James Brown on top. It’s OK but really, are we at the place where we need James Brown interpreted for us?
The return of Mark and Mars to # 1 makes you wonder if XFactor have been spiking the ball a little. The battle for Christmas single is pretty darn vicious and you gotta think… it wouldn’t take that many downloads, certainly $50K would do it… I wonder.
I know it says Bruno Mars and Mark Ronson but let’s be clear here, what it is is James Brown being ripped off yet again, this time by the Little Richard of pop. In other news, I believe they finally decided where to bury the man though the fight over his estate is going on and on. Somebody should slip em a copy of Dicken’s “Bleak House”
There seems to be zero change here from before they were counting streams –this is exactly what you’d expect, and if every 10 sales equals 1500 streams it might be a long time before you do whatever the claim is. By the way, Bruno Mars? James Brown is so great even lame ass copies sound good.
Uptown Funk – Mark Ronson, Bruno Mars – An amazing simulation of soul and funk and James Brown, unyielding replication of what it means to have funkadelia in your soul but so what if it isn’t the real thing, it still sounds good – B+
Uptown Funk – Mark Ronson, bruno Mars – It starts like Chic before mainlining james brown and it is so good you might wanna kiss yourself. A great piece of funky disco – A
Eric sold nearly 300K copies of his dog album, giving spoken word a bad reputation from sea to shiny sea. The thing is, when he is good he is not good enough and when he is bad he is the absolute pits. Come back “Jack Daniels” all is forgiven.
The charts, which, of course, have never been a beacon of good taste aren’t even an icon of success. I think we use it because, you know, otherwise we’d have no idea who’s is winning. Now we can only take a guess at best.
You got what he has been selling for the past year and that’s it. The sense of moment, of importance, of whatever it means, just the honor of playing the Half Time Show was completely beyond him. We get “Locked Out Of Heaven”, we get “Treasure” but we always get them. Even the stage wasn’t all that, nothing much going on at all. It was as boring as the blow out we were watching.
