“I’m feeling very nostalgic”, Madonna claimed about her return to MSG 30 years after her first performance here. But she shouldn’t be. Madonna didn’t have the rebel heart for it then, she hadn’t learnt how hard she could cry, how alone she could be. She didn’t appreciate human frailty the way she did last night

A busy week for concerts peaked early and high with Madonna at Madison Square Garden, a friend of mine is very close to a guy who is very close to Madonna and swears next time he can get me a great seat for $400. My friend was front row, and if Madge comes back round with Rebel Heart, I can seriously imagine doing it, Yes, that good.

She is playing tonight, if you love Madonna this is the concert you must see.

I’ve read good things about this tour, if she plays it straight, plays the hits plus choice cuts off rebel heart, if she gets on stage at 9pm and performs 120 minutes of great dance pop, word of mouth will instantaneously sell out the tour. But if she gives us more of MDMA, art pop self flagellation and audience hatred, forget it

She now has a Tumblr page with heavy traffic, and was discovered by A$AP, her first famous customer. Then Rihanna saw his mouthpiece, and from there, Dolly became the grill-maker for celebrities. All of her creations are customized and handmade, and are unique pieces, she said to Vogue magazine she will never make the same one again. Using her dentistry practice, she makes a mold of someone’s mouth and then sculpts the piece using chromium chromate, then 18K gold, yellow or white.

Jay Z recently purchased the streaming service for some $56 million and he wants to make it as a competitor to Spotify, or Rdio. Alicia called it the ‘beginning of a whole new era’,… but for whom exactly? A new era for Jay Z and Madonna to make even more money? What’s new exactly? A new sound? a better listening experience?

In 2012, for the MDNA, she sold out Yankee Stadium in 20 minutes and added another date and she added two nights at MSG are on the back, so consider it the equivalent of selling out MSG SIX TIMES. This time she can’t sell out two nights? What happened?

I am as completely unbiased when it comes to music as I can be,, and if you want proof here is my review of Madonna at Yankee Stadium. But there is doubting her pop music genius and while Lady Gaga may one day find herself in the same league, it sure hasn’t happened yet.

Meaning, yeah, we used to play her a lot in the 80s, but she is definitively too old now, despite what a Radio 1 spokesman said: ‘Tracks are chosen on musical merit, and while around 40 per cent of the country’s 15 to 29-year-olds tune into Radio 1 each week, an artist’s age is never a factor.’

When we discover she has broken up with another twenty something, a Timor Steffens or a Brahim Zaibat, we don’t imagine her sitting on a couch with a large tub of Haagen Daz and “Sleepless In Seattle” on repeat. We imagine her looking through dancers auditions and picking out a replacement.

Joan Of Arc – Madonna – A melodic highlight of her new album, a heartbreak song with a weak metaphor (“I’m not Joan of Arc, not yet) which doesn’t seem to quite make sense after all but yet the bridge is so catchy the song should hit big any way – A-

Bitch I’m Madonna – Madonna – Except when she is getting onstage three hours late, I have nothing against Madonna. But, if I work in the 21st century teaches of anything,it teaches us that talent is finite. This is nothing very much, and Nicki Minaj adds nothing at all. A nursery rhyme less bad and more old, she throws everything at the track abc none of it sticks – C

Albert Einstein is truly part of our pop culture and figures in many songs as expected: They Might Be Giants’ ‘The World’s Address’, Landscape‘s ‘Einstein A Go-Go’, Counting Crows’ ‘Einstein on the Beach’, Jimmy Buffett’s ‘Einstein was a Surfer’ Bob Dylan’s ‘Desolation Row’, and even Kelly Clarkson’s ‘Einstein’… so weird!

The rush release of D’Angelo’s long awaited album Black Messiah and the leak of the 2015 Madonna album Rebel Heart, both good neither great, are the stories of week 51. I am not precisely disappointed in either of them, and Madonna peaks sky high with “Living For Love”

‘Interscope are calling me to help write Madonna’s record. They need something edgy. They need songwriting. She can’t just have her Avicii, her producers or whatever, come up with a new techno jam for her to gyrate to and pretend that she’s 20 years old. They actually need songs.’

I do understand the historic value of the word “nigger” but if in 2014 we still refer to it as the ‘n word’ we are pathetic. We have allowed a word to have control when we should simply stop equating the atrocity of what we have done to our fellow man with 5 letters in sequence

‘I am sorry if I offended anyone with my use of the N word on Instagram. It was not meant as a racial slur.. I am not a racist. There’s no way to defend the use of the word. It was all about intention.. It was used as a term of endearment toward my son who is white. I appreciate that it’s a provocative word and I apologize if it gave people the wrong impression. Forgive me.’

As last years controversy swirls this year, let us be clear: for all of Lady Gaga’s many gifts, and despite Gaga’s last four albums being vastly superior to Madonna’s last four albums, Gaga is no Madonna. In the 1980s Madonna was pop music and until the 21st century she very seldom faltered. Here is a refresher course:
