Muse, on the other hand, stink

Are the ‘By Request’ shows the future of live concerts?
This is this time of the year, KROQ’s Almost Acoustic Christmas is here
It’s still a very men’s world
It seems there’s no in between among female artists, they are either too superstars or second-line-on-Coachella-poster.
So Muse are playing MSG, Friday, January 29th, 2015, tickets go on sale Friday, and my feeling is absolutely this should be a blast. If you have never seen em, check. Oh, and Barclay Center on the Thursday and Wednesday prior, and my bet is tickets shouldn’t be that difficult to get hold of.
Just to gain some perspective on all this: 40% of the albums on this list have been on this list all year, and I mean that almost literally, maybe Meghan fell off for a week here and there but that is it. Everything else (where’s Willie?) kasts a week to three tops and disappears. Muse moved 79,000 units. That is anemic.
Muse has established a sound and a look, dark and damn serious, with retro-sci-fi-looking outfits, they performed as if they were doing a Shakespearian play with battles directed by David Lynch and scored by Ennio Morricone,… well they used ‘Once Upon a Time in the West’ at one point.
It has been two years, April 15th, 2013, to be precise, since Muse played Madison Square Garden but now, with the band performing two local shows in May, to which none of us will be able to get in, perhaps it is time to remember the last time we saw em, on today’s Oldies But Goldies
Forgive him if you will, one thing for sure, Muse’s gig on May 8th at Webster Hall (they are playing an invite only gig the next day at IHEARTRADIO Theatre) should be quite an invent. They filled MSG, they should blow the roof off Webster Hall… but I’m not going.
This setlist might have problems selling Arenas in the US (forget stadiums). Where is “Madness” for one obvious question? And while there best live moment is here “Stockholm Syndrome”, it assumes too much on the audience. What is “Agitated” doing here?
‘To me, ‘Drones’ are metaphorical psychopaths which enable psychopathic behavior with no recourse. The world is run by Drones utilizing Drones to turn us all into Drones. Drones explores the journey of a human, from their abandonment and loss of hope, to their indoctrination by the system to be a human drone, to their eventual defection from their oppressors.’ …
Without any study, I bet most people, whatever their age have some kind of nostalgia for the music of the 60’s , because of its unique quality, but I am not sure ot can be repeated, as I don’t know if the same kind of nostalgia will be involved for the Foo Fighters, Green Day or Linkin Park, the Red Hot Chili Peppers or even Muse…
Rappers are still going strong even those I haven’t heard anything from for a long time, like Diddy ($60 million and $1.90 per second)! Beside this you have Calvin Harris ($66 million and $2.09 per second), Jay Z ($60 million and $1.90 per second), and Drake ($33 million and $1.05 per second)
This is true that headliner Outkast had already been announced a long time ago, that Arcade Fire was a given, as they have been playing literally everywhere lately, but Muse? I can already see your excitation, but I basically have none at this point. They excite me as much as Phoenix,
Well now, this really sucks. There is little doubt Spears isn’t up for anything that important at this juncture of her care and there is nothing else remotely close to cool. I guess I would have to go with Boston just because, well, they are Boston after all,
Muse could have stayed at a Greek-theater modest format but they chose to expand at this Roman Empire format, and each song is performed as if it was an opening for the Olympic Games.
