Certainly the best concert I have attended this year
Iggy’s one is darker, slower with a true Nightclubbing vibe
I am grateful to have seen these two legends close and personal
‘There’s a lot of more air these days’
the movie will be followed by a Q&A featuring Mr. Homme
It has to be Nick Cave’s week
a Japanese-anime makeover
Snow Mozzer & Heat Mozzer is a double feature for Morrissey
‘an extension of my interest in making mundane things seem dramatic’
‘This thing is so big, you can’t even get your arms around it’
‘who was your saddest celebrity encounter?’
I have decided to look back at this past year in alphabetic order,… and this is the fourth part of the series….
The two boys went their separate ways, a few people spotted them and worried as they saw Arthur ‘staggering’ and ‘zig-zagging’ on top of the cliff, but it was too late and his body was discovered by a runner at the bottom of the cliff.
There are levels of hell and this must be nearly the worst, you can feel the pain from here: it rises like smoke from the ashes of life, it is the dreadful that has already happened: the worst thing, the largest worry, the nightmare you try to wake from. You hope the family can help each other through it.
The circumstances of the dramatic event are not entirely known, but Arthur was airlifted to the hospital yesterday evening after being found at about 6 pm, with life-threatening injuries, on a coastal path near the Ovingdean Gap. The death is not being treated as suspicious according to the Argus.
Nick Cave can fill the 600 seats of the Grauman’s Egyptian theater, and just discuss his new book while not singing a single song? The evening was priced as high as a musical performance and the performance part was limited to him reciting a few of his incredible texts, but at this point many people (me included) would pay to see him just reading the phone book
Why is everyone finding this one bizarre? I am talking about Nick Cave and the new skateboard designed by the Australian firm Fast Times, inspired by Nick Cave’s song ‘Nature Boy’ off his album ‘Abattoir Blues’, and illustrated by the artist Chuck Sperry
Nick Cave: I saw him twice this year, and it was totally spectacular because I even met him in person! First, at the Los Angeles premiere of his fake autobiographical movie, ‘20,000 days on Earth’ at the Egyptian theater on June 10th
Or how would he manage to assemble lines like these ones: ‘Hear a man preaching in a language that’s completely new, yea/Making the hot cocks in the flophouse bleed/While the cleaning ladies sob into their mops/And a bellhop hops and bops/A shot rings out to a spiritual groove/Everybody bleeding to that Higgs Boson Blues’
‘I was very interested in what I could take and what I could do. I looked upon the body as a laboratory – I used to throw in this chemical and then that one to see what would happen; I was intrigued by that.’
Although I know nothing about their current relationship, I imagine it must be a very strange thing to revisit an ex’s song? But PJ just did a cover of Nick’s famous song ‘Red Right Hand’, straight from the Bad Seeds’ 1994 album ‘Let Love In’.
Big rock stars are a bit like aliens, you rarely see them, they travel inside big black vehicles, and you work very hard at getting close to them. But when you get there, it seems surreal. I had a summer of encounters with rock stars, whatever the level of the encounters (and they were all at least of the third kind) they left the biggest impression of the summer on me
You will not learn anything real about Nick Cave’s life – may be the most real moment is that scene at the end where you see him sharing pizza in front of the TV with his twin sons – but it’s not a behind-the-image type of thing, the movie rather brings more mystery about one of the most enigmatic songwriters of our time.
I am going to see the great Nick Cave twice this week, yes twice! First, at the American Cinematheque, I will attend ‘20,000 Days on Earth: An evening with Nick Cave’ , about the film he co-wrote with artists Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard, then, the next day, I will go to a Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds show at the Shrine. In preparation (or just for fun) I was reading the Nick Cave interview published by the NY Times this past week… I will give you the best parts of it.
The odds of you seeing this film anywhere but Netflix in a few months is slim to none unless you have an art cinema in LA or something. Die hard fans will love it and the rest of us will go..’ wait remember Birthday Party….”
Mark Ryden, this curious artist who wraps his curious and surrealist paintings both reminiscent of the masters and cartoons around big-eyed little girls and pop culture references, has a new exhibit called ‘The Gay 90s’ at the Kohn Gallery in Los Angeles.
‘I am among many who consider Nick Cave the unofficial poet laureate of the modern age. While his music fans are already eagerly anticipating this release, I am personally excited to share this riveting portrait of a modern creative genius with a much wider audience.’
So far no supersymmetric particles have been discovered, but it is a very convenient love imagery not unlike the Greek philosophers’ idea of the quest to find our lost half. It’s also very seducing that, interestingly, we may never know if these superpartners exist
I got to see them at the Jimmy Kimmel Live on July 29th, and managed to bump (almost) into Josh Homme’s giant body when exiting the green room. But seriously, these guys have a mega-monster sound, they blow up the roof even when there’s none
Tim learns he can time travel at 21 years of age, and uses it to correct excruciatingly embarrassing moments and also to get the girl of his dreams.
