The FYF Fest Lineup Is Here And It Is Spectacular

After much anticipation, the FYF Fest lineup is here and it is excellent. The first surprise is that the festival is a 3-day affair in July, which means it really wants to beat its giant rival Coachella.

Sure Coachella has Radiohead but the FYF Fest has a double bill on Friday, Missy Elliott and Bjork! And for me it is the biggest mystery of the entire poster,…. will the two women collaborate together (is it even something to consider?) or will they play on two separate stages? In any case this is intriguing and very strong.

Now that Coachella has lost Beyonce and replaced her by Lady Gaga, the elusive Frank Ocean – who had definitively to make up this year for blowing up the FYF Fest in 2015 – looks like the hot ticket, plus you have to remember that Kendrick Lamar was already headlining the FYF fest last year, before headlining Coachella this year… Coachella, you can eat Indio’s dust, you look like déjà vu and the FYF fest is winning, with Nine Inch Nails on Sunday at the top of all the rest.

Other highlights are of course, A Tribe Called Quest, Erykah Badu, Solange (Beyonce’s sister as everyone knows, may be she will be able to give an update on the baby) and Iggy Pop! This is definitively a very strong and diverse lineup, with a few more favorites of mine such as Angel Olsen (I remember when her name was at the bottom of the poster a few years ago), Perfume Genius, Moses Sumney, Grandaddy, a few Iman’s favorites, such as Anderson .Paak and Run the Jewels, and a few bands which play the fest all the time like the Drums and Ty Segall, it must be the first year that Mac DeMarco is not playing!

You can explore the complete line-up here and buy tickets here starting on Friday 24th, although there is a presale on Wednesday 22nd for American Express Card Members! The little punk Fuck Yeah Fest has surely done a lot of growing up.
