The Growlers Announce Beach Goth 2018
The Growlers’ Beach Goth is back with its 7th edition, a new location and a date much closer than last year: August 15th. And it’s also closer in space as Beach Goth 2018 will be happening at the old location of the FYF fest, inside the newly renovated Los Angeles State Historic Park, whereas it was located in San Pedro last year.
‘Most festivals are a sea of sameness,’ said Brooks Nielsen, lead singer of The Growlers, curators of Beach Goth 2018. ‘This year we’re taking back Beach Goth, reclaiming it for the band and our fellow weirdos, misfits, and colorful outsiders’
‘Beach Goth 2018 will definitely be more ‘carnival’ than ‘festival.’ It’s about art, songs, and performances that come from real materials and raw energy, things that have to be experienced in-person,’ added Nielsen. ‘LA is The Growlers’ home, and the Los Angeles State Historic Park is the perfect place for Growlers fans to come get weird in a beautiful, chill, and safe environment.’
This year, Beach Goth may be far form the real beach and will only be happening on a single day, but the lineup is very eclectic, with the return of The Voidz, as the second headliners, but who is gonna complain? Not me, they have a new album and I love them. Other highlights will include The Drums, Jonathan Richman, Barrington Levy, Kirin J Callinan, Hatchie, Bushwick Bill, Gwar (who will feel right at home among the weird and macabre outfits), Bleached as The Ramones (whatever this will be), the crazy Starcrawler trio, whereas punk hardcore will be represented by Youth of Today.
Here is the complete lineup:
Bleached as The Ramones
DJ Johnny Basil
Doug E. Fresh
Jonathan Richman Featuring Tommy Larkins On The Drums!
King Yellowman & The Sagittarius Band
Kirin J Callinan
Youth Of Today
Tickets will be on sale this Friday at 10 am on the Growlers’ website… here is a fun teaser of the festival:
