Former Queen drummer Roger Taylor wants you to c'mon along and join the band.

Auditions begin this week for an American vocalists, guitarists, drummers, bassists and keyboard players. Taylor will be coordinating this all as the band’s producer and music director.

“The Queen Extravaganza will not be a traditional tribute show,” Taylor said in a statement. “It’s a brand-new show specially designed to enable fans to celebrate the music of Queen in a heart-stopping event.

“It’s going to be spectacular,” he added. “It’s going to be very visual, there are going to be some shocks and some tremendous surprises. It will be a rock celebration in the royal tradition.”

You will have to download the songs and prepare and audition tape to be reviewed by a team of Queen judges, the final selections will be done by the public and a real live tour is planned for 2012.  If phony Beatlemania has bitten the dust surely the Queen Extravaganza will as well…right?  I wonder why the singer has to be American.. sorta odd…
