These Days: Saturday, April 15th, 2017
Sports: Phil Jackson: “We’ve not been able to win with (Carmelo Anthony) on the court at this time. I think the direction with our team is that he’s a player that would be better off somewhere else and using his talent somewhere where he can win or chase that championship.” I blame Dolan, the man is the kiss of death and the senile Phil should triangulate on this, three years later and the man is clueless and the Knicks are pathetic. They have been rebuilding since Patrick Ewing left (in an atrocious trade for Glen Rice, who spent 2001 with a foot injury and never helped in the slightest). Meanwhile, James Dolan is insulting the fans who pay his salary. No, wait, his daddy pays his salary.
More Sports: The Yanks are two games over .500 and Tanaka pitched a pretty good game last night despite a two run homer early on, the batters are hitting… An exhausted Mets lose one.
More More Sports: When do the NBA playoffs begin? And who cares? Save us New York Liberty, you’re our only hope.
New Music: Still working my way through em, but Playboi Carti (Grade: B) is a surprise and the Tinie Tempah (Grade: B+) is a who’s who of Brit rap.
Old Music: A week today Fleming does Richard Strauss, I don’t go to the opera more than a coupla times a year but it is always a thrill and this one, one of the final performances before Renee’s retirement, is an especial treat.
Concerts: Bon Jovi tonight, I am taking my niece which means I am stuck at MSG till the end of the evening, because Jon holds “Wanted Dead Or Alive” and “Living On A Prayer” to the last two songs of the evening. Which means 30 years later, they haven’t hit anything as big. Bon Jovi the only band where your bathroom run can last 105 minutes without the fear of missing anything you want to see. Next week? The Clive Davis show at Radio City.
Movies: I am gagging to see the latest Fast And Furious -maybe tomorrow…
