Death: Clyde Stubblefield, James Brown band member on some of the funkiest songs ever recorded and the most sampled drummer in hip hop history. “Fight the Power”? That’s a Stubblefield sample. “Freedom 90”? So is that. Indeed, it is the same drum sample. Dead at 73. Norma McCorvey, ‘Roe’ in Roe v. Wade, didn’t live to see the landmark abortion rights law repealed. Omar Abdel Rahman, the blind cleric jailed for sedition and liked to the less successful 93 world Trade Center bombing, dead at 87… in prison.

Concerts: George Strait AND Kacey Musgraves, now that is a good concert. My first sighting of Kacey, and she is more of a traditionalist than I thought from the “kiss lots of boys or kiss lots of girls if that’s what you’re into…” isn’t your red state social agenda. A terrific gig by the way (Grade: A-)

The Media: why are the media crucifying Trump? My Bet? That haircut has to go,

More Media: The media aren’t fake news, and they aren’t liars as such, they are bipartisan hacks who lost the higher ground when they went all in for Clinton, mislead and misread the mood of the country, and were proven to be awesomely incompetent. Now they are paying for it but the price is too steep.

New Music: Alyson is flipping over the new Hanni El Khatib, I like it but I wish it had more colors -especially his voice (Grade:B+)

Old Music: Elton John tonight. He better keep to the hits or else.
