Theatre: The motion picture as three dimensional theatrical experience has, much like the jukebox musical, had a spotty existence. You go through a heck of a lot of “Dr. Zhivagos”  or, more obviously, “Rocky” before you reach the tremendousishly production of “Groundhog Day” at August Wilson. GD stars Rocky star Andy Karl as Phil Connor, the bristly Weatherman stuck in a time loop in Puxatony  I predict a Broadway hit after seeing it yesterday except… the music isn’t as good as it should have been. I wasn’t a fan of “Matilda” -also by songwriter Tim Minchin, but the book by Danny Rubin (who co wrote the original  screenplay)is one of the best on Broadway. The staging is miraculous…. more when I write my review. Grade: B+

New Music: I’ve been on a heavy diet of trap trying to figure out why so much of it hits me as bland. It sounds great but it has two huge problems, there is so much of the sound it veers into a cliche lyrically almost on impact and except about the top (Future and Gucci), the voices aren’t memorable enough. What it has working is some of the most memorable hooks you’ll ever hear.

Old Music: Is it time for me to seriously consider Aloha? I think I’ll spend some of the day watching the NBC special for the umpteenth time. It is difficult to access a brain set where the via Satellite show was watched by 1.5 BILLION people around the world. Just the numbers makes it a masterpiece.

Lessons In Government: Steve Bannon was sent to the House Of Freedom Senators and barked at them “Guys, look. This is not a discussion. This is not a debate. You have no choice but to vote for this bill,” Bannon reportedly said to members of the ultra-conservative House Freedom Caucus. But those in the Freedom Caucus weren’t buying into Bannon’s opening gambit. “You know, the last time someone ordered me to something, I was 18 years old. And it was my daddy. And I didn’t listen to him, either,” said one member of the caucus. The meeting was part of an effort by the Trump administration to woo Freedom Caucus members – without their support, the bill was doomed.” I would love to have been a fly on the wall when Bannon discovered that being rude to Senators isn’t as easy as being rude to reporters.

More Lessons: Bannon has promised to keep a tally of all who opposed the band with the implication that there will be payback. Richard Nixon has risen from the dead because if that isn’t the threat of an enemies list, what is?

POTUS: if by gutting the EPA, or lowering taxes on industry, or throwing tariffs every each way to ward off cheap imports, Trump can bring jobs back to the Red States, every State, Trump will be President for eight years and Pence will take over. If he can’t, they won’t.

More Potus: if the youth of America won’t support POTUS, perhaps he can bring back conscription and since the youth of the US are such big time feminists, include women.
