Tomorrow Is The First Day Of The Rest Of Your Life: Is there anything to look forward to? Well, we’ve been waiting for the apocalypse since Jesus Christ warned us that it was imminent and it hasn’t happened yet and I would be surprised to hear how it happens within the next four or eight years. So there is that. Also, if the Republicans were so terrible for the middle class, what exactly is the Democratic party. In the last quarter of a century the Democrats were in power for 16 years, and the Republicans were in power for nine years and the middle class are in free fall to this day.  So who is responsible? The devil, probably.

The Inauguration: So the excellent r&b singer Chrisette Michele is ready for her close up? This is a huge career move for her and if she gets blackballed by nosey parker Questlove over it I think we should boycott the Roots -no hardship in my opinion.

The Anti-Inauguration In DC:  The National, Sleater-Kinney, Ted Leo, Tig Notaro, Janeane Garofalo, Senators Al Franken and Cory Booker,  Priests, Waxahatchee (solo), Sadie Dupuis (of Speedy Ortiz/Sad13), Pure Disgust, Marc Ribot, Flasher, Free Children of Earth, Immortal Technique, Jeff Rosenstock, Rebel Diaz, Sammus, Evan Greer, Taina Asili, Antibalas, Kyp Malone, (TV on the Radio) Nels Cline, (Wilco) Kimya Dawson, Holly Miranda, Xenia Rubinos, Yuka Honda, (Cibo Matto) Jeffrey Lewis, TEEN… ever get the feeling you’re in the wrong town?

Old Music: Next up a Presley RCA Camden album, a strange one tied to a hit single. And then on to McCartney’s much loved Tug Of War though I’m not crazy about it I THINK. I’ve listened a number of times but I haven’t given it the full power of my concentration yet. I do know that “Here Today” is just the worst.

New Music: Conor Oberst? “Napalm” is a pretty good song, a solid “B+” -very Dylan goes electric. And third time’s the charm for Dirty Projector’s. I’ve been listening to Chrisette Michelle, she really is pretty good.

Worst Politician Ever? Jesus Christ. He couldn’t get his fellow countrymen to vote for him, he couldn’t get the Romans to pay attention, he turned water into wine, walked on water, fed thousands with a  loaf of bread and a coupla fishes, got the dead to rise, and healed the sick with a touch of his hand (that alone should’ve gotten him the Leper Colony vote) and for all of that the worst politician ever was crucified. Second worse politician: Hillary Clinton -she lost to a black man and followed that by losing to a narcissist fascist.

Dead: The terrific William Onyeabor, the father of Nigerian Afro-Punk,gone at 70. What a loss…

Combined they couldn't draw more than Big & Rich without the prop of the anti-event.

    Brief rundown:

Janeane Garofalo: once movies/tv fizzled, progressive activism as air freshener
Cory Booker: Best tossed in wastebin with rest of Clintonite big money meritocrats.
Collection of artists: 2nd and 3rd tier progressive identity politics jukebox
Alt title for anti-inauguration: Hashtag Overthrow
