Sports: The best thing about the Mets has been the Captain David Wright for years nows and for fewer years now he has been constantly injured. He was out for some of 2015 and most of 2016, and now, after four days, he is out again with an impinged soldier. At the age of 34, it looks like the great player, the second most beloved New York player (after the retired Derek Jeter) is an old man. Will it lead to retirement? Will he be back for one last hurrah?

Speech To Congress: President Trump sounded Presidential as he promised the US everything, well we’d all love to see the plans. So far, he can’t “fix” Obamacare as the US embraces the once hated national health service. The GOP struggles to get the people to pay for it, wish em luck, right? But Trump’s best idea would be his simplest: call it Trumpcare and leave it alone. A new chapter in American greatness right?

New Music: The Stormzy isn’t lasting, the Dirty Projectors isn’t lasting, and most everything is a non starter. A strange, not particularly strong year.

Old Music: Panic are sounding better than Luke. I was listening to a little Coltrane last night… and a lot of Sondheim.

Concerts: Luke Bryan tonight, Panic tomorrow, David Cassidy on Saturday. Here is Cassidy speaking to Dr. Phil about his dementia: “When friends of yours or family members begin to say to you, ‘Remember, I just told you this two days ago,’ and there’s no memory of it, that’s when I began to be very concerned.”

Theatre: A new David Mamet play “The Penitent” -remember how exciting that piece of news once was?

Celebrity: Emma Watson on not taking selfies: “For me, it’s the difference between being able to have a life and not. If someone takes a photograph of me and posts it, within two seconds they’ve created a marker of exactly where I am within 10 meters. They can see what I’m wearing and who I’m with. I just can’t give that tracking data.”

Visiting The US? “Tibetan women’s soccer players denied US visas for Texas tournament”. My nephew has told me he won’t come here till Trump leaves.
