Thom Yorke

To my great surprise, I received a W.A.S.T.E. email today, and you know what it means… Radiohead news! The other surprise was that Thom Yorke had announced special solo shows, 3 to be exact, during which he plans to perform tracks from across his solo material, with the help of producer Nigel Godrich and visual artist Tarik Barri, and according to Pitchfork, they previously performed together in a trio configuration under the Atoms for Peace banner.

So beside his apparition at the Day For Night Festival in Houston Texas on December 17th, Thom will also play at the Fonda Theater in LA on December 12th and at the Fox Theater in Oakland on December 14th.

Should I even try to get a ticket for his LA show? Of course I will try but it looks like a lost cause in advance, tickets go on general sale on Friday October 6th at 10 am PST, which is always an excellent time for people who, you know, have a job? Based on previous experiences, and on my recent try to get tickets for the Yeah Yeah Yeahs at the same place, my hopes are at their lowest point, but I am a soldier who never gives up.

Yorke has also announced a reissue of his 2014 solo album ‘Tomorrow’s Modern Boxes’ (via XL on December 8) that you can pre-order via the W.A.S.T.E. store. So there is also ‘a small fan pre-order’, for the shows, a day earlier on Thursday October 5th at 10 am PST. But if they specify it is a small one, I would not even bother!

Getting tickets on line for popular artists playing relatively small venues such as the Fonda is getting close to impossible for ordinary people like me! How come all these Yeah Yeah yeahs tickets were gone in a second? There is not even one for sale on Stubhub or Vividseats! I guess, if you are connected in the music industry, you may get to see the Yeah Yeah Yeahs at the Fonda, if you are extremely well connected, you may get to see Thom Yorke at the Fonda, but us, poor fans, we only have our eyes for crying and it’s deplorable.
