Comment: Anne-Marie (the former Rudimental lead singer) has a breakthrough debut album just released and while “2002” isn’t “Cry” it is very, very good. “The Middle”? Have you seen the New York Times “Anatomy Of A Song” video (here), where Sarah Aaron emails a piano hook to and the production team The Monsters And The Strangerz found this weird sample and added it and so began the creation of a very good song. Nothing is a surprise here, we know how its done since Dr. Luke pulled the curtain back in 2012, but the way it moved up the food chain is fascinating (the first demo is just Sarah and the piano hook -and it’s already great). It then went further up the food chain and this part I loved, bigger producers Grey added a sample of a wood being sawn… How great is that? Finally, it gets to Zedd who signs up Maren Morris to sing it…
