Hanni El Khatib continues to release videos for the songs off his Dan-Auerbach-produced album ‘Pay No Mind’, and this new one doesn’t need much explanation, you just have to watch and enjoy it!
The video for ‘Pay No Mind’ curiously starts with girls in a car singing along the end of one of Khatib’s other songs ‘Family’, then it gets the NLF treatment, transforming the scene into the tougher and most badass cheerleading you will ever see. These girls can dance for sure, but do cheerleaders usually move their hot bodies to this brand of raw garage rock’ n’ roll? Probably not, but it works totally fine, as this is exactly what you get when you listen to a Hanni El Khatib track. It’s very steamy and did you say sexy? I guess what you get here is the essence of rock’ n’ roll: it’s hip twisting, hair banging with hot girls losing their mind in front of cars, over a super energetic bluesy rock song.
French filmmaker Simon Cahn (he co-directed the animated short film ‘Mourir Auprès De Toi’ with Spike Jonze) directed the video and explained that ‘the idea for this video was to go for the opposite of rock ‘n’ roll imagery. I really wanted to do something unexpected for Hanni.’
If you are in Los Angeles, don’t miss Hanni El Khatib free concert at Santa Monica pier on August 8th, let’s just hope he’ll bring the cheerleaders with him!
